KPI Tree FAQ

What is a KPI tree?

A KPI tree is a hierarchical decomposition of a top-level business metric into the drivers that mathematically determine it. Each branch is a formula: multiplication, addition, or ratio.

How is a KPI tree different from a dashboard?

A dashboard shows current values. A KPI tree explains why those values changed by tracing every movement back to a specific driver and contribution.

Is a KPI tree the same as a driver tree?

In most contexts yes. "Driver tree" is more common in operations and finance; "KPI tree" is more common in product and growth teams. The mathematical structure is the same.

Do I need SQL or code to use kpitree.io?

No. kpitree.io is fully self-service. Upload a spreadsheet, define how your metrics relate, and the tree is generated.
